So far most of my work out has been via bike - stationary and road bike. I really like riding and have managed to rack up a lot of miles. I am afraid that I am starting to stall in progress because my body has become efficient in the one activity. I am looking to add some variety to my workouts.
Swim - I really like swimming but have a few obstacles to overcome. I need to figure out the whole breathing thing. I have a hard time blowing the bubbles under water and then turning my head for a new breath. I am not the most flexible person especially in the neck and shoulder area. I am planning to sign up for an adult swim club at the Y in the near future.
Weights - I need to hit the weights more. The Compromise is going to show me the ropes at the gym tomorrow and I am also considering doing the circuit training class or Body Pump at the Y.
Spinning - I will always spin or ride the bike. I am just going to do it less often so I have time for other activities.
Running - I hate running! This event is 10-12 miles long so I need to learn to love it a bit more. The biggest problem I have with it is that it is so uncomfortable for me. My back fat bounces and feels like a wrecking ball crashing over and over again on my back. I think learning to be lighter of my feet, not stomping as I run, could help with this and also getting rid of the back fat (swimming and weights). I ran a mile for the first time since November 2003 last week and it was a huge accomplishment.
Diet - I am going to do a separate post on this later - I have some possibly radical ideas I want to bounce off of you all.
it says we need to run but i dont think we will be running more then a mile of this course. i just think u need to focus on building some good cardio , which running does. I think if we can maintain a brisk walking pace or a half jog type pace o think we will do fine
